CELEBRATING EARTH DAY
Every year, on April 22, we celebrate Earth Day. Our world is getting dirty and many of our plants and animals are dying. Earth Day is a special day to look at our planet and see what we can do to protect the environment. People should learn about the importance of the three Rs: reuse, reduce and recycle. A better planet could be possible if everybody does this every day. Watch this video to learn more.




100 years ago, on April 10, 1912, the Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage. A few days later, on April 15, it hit an iceberg and sank. More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the disaster. April is the fourth month of the year. No-one knows for certain how April got its name. The Romans called this month Aprilis that comes from the Latin word aperire which means "to open". This probably refers to growing plants in spring.
